ABOUT FINCH
Formed in Temecula, CA in 1999, the quintet of Nate Barcalow, Alex Linares, Randy Strohmeyer, Alex Pappas and Derrek Doherty known as Finch, are labeled as the fore-fathers of the “screamo” and post hardcore genre. Influenced by the hard leanings of bands like Deftones and Hum, and the pop sensibilities of Jimmy Eat World and Blink-182, Finch began a sonic revolution in popular music that still echoes today.

The band signed to Drive-Thru Records in 2001 after guitarist Strohmeyer sent out a demo to owners Richard and Stephanie Reines while he was working on the label’s street team. Drive-Thru saw something in the Southern California band and decided to take a risk on a sound that was more aggressive than their current range of artists. Their first EP, Falling into Place sold more than 6,000 copies within the first few months and gave them the momentum they needed to create their groundbreaking first album What It Is To Burn. Recorded in the winter of 2001, What It Is To Burn was released the following spring. The album produced three radio hits, charted Number 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and 99 on the Billboard Top 200.

They spent years touring in support of What It Is To Burn, sharing the stage with the likes of Glassjaw, The Starting Line, Yellowcard, and Blink-182, among others. In 2005, they decided it was time for a follow up, and went in a more artsy direction with Say Hello To Sunshine. Drummer Alex Pappas left the band and was replaced by Marc Allen. After years of heavy touring, the band went on a short hiatus, rejoining one another in 2007 with new bassist Daniel Wonacott to record their self-titled EP. Critics hailed the EP as a return to glory while still adding to their old sound. Finch would tour off the release for a few years until deciding on another break in 2009.

In 2013, Finch reunited to its nearly original lineup and announced that they would embark on the What It Is To Burn Ten Year Anniversary tour. The group performed the full-length in its entirety with a few extra bonuses for fans along the way. One concert in particular in Pomona, CA was filmed and recorded and will be released via Tragic Hero Records on 02/25/14. With no bad blood and everything firing on all fronts, it’s hard to tell what will come next for Finch, but one thing remains certain: all eyes are watching to find out.

Invent, Animate Premiere their New Song “Native Intellect” on Revolver.

(Port Neches, TX) – Texas metalcore band Invent, Animate, who have recently signed to Tragic Hero Records, are premiering a new song today. They teamed up with Revolver to bring you “Native Intellect.” The band is offering a two song mini EP through the Tragic Hero Merch Store along with a limited time t-shirt design.

“So far we are overwhelmed with the response from our signing/new song announcement a few days ago,” says vocalist Ben English. “‘Courier’ launched on Monday and the feedback we’ve been receiving has been so promising, and we’re all so stoked right now. Really good fuel to the fire to have while we’re in the studio. Launching ‘Native Intellect’ via Revolver Mag is wild. Been excited for this particular song for a long time and I wouldn’t want to be releasing it through anyone else.”

About Invent, Animate:
“With so much metalcore out these days, the best thing to do is be fresh. Invent, Animate does this,” says music critic Mike Bohn who reviewed the band’s first EP Waves. “They do a lot more than other bands out there and they do it well.”

Creating an idea and bringing it to life is what inspired the progressive metalcore band Invent, Animate to pursue their passion for spreading positive messages through their music. The group was formed on the cloudy Christmas Eve of 2011 in a small town east of Houston called Port Neches, Texas. Ben English (vocals), Logan Forrest (guitar), Keaton Goldwire (guitar), Caleb Sherraden (bass), and Trey Celaya (drums) came together through their mutual love of bands like Deftones, Underoath, and Norma Jean. They are heavily influenced by what these bands have to say and the way they carry themselves as musicians.

Invent, Animate are a highly energetic band that puts an unsullied look on the metalcore market. Their work is multi-dimensional and shows their ability to be very dynamic. Never fearful to be chaotic and crazy one minute, but then decelerate and bring a softer, more beautiful aspect the next. “We’re not afraid to slow it down, experiment with different vocal styles, and maybe even sing in a few parts,” says vocalist Ben English. In addition to performing at the South By So What?! festival, the group has shared the stages with Oh, Sleeper, Of Mice & Men, and Architects.

Invent, Animate recently signed with Tragic Hero Records and have plans to release their debut full-length in 2014.  It’s still so surreal to me,” says English. “Growing up, some of my favorite bands were a part of Tragic Hero, and I’m super excited to be a part of the family. The record that we’ve been pouring ourselves into for months is really going to be unlike anything we’ve done before. We’re branching out and doing things that we’ve never done, and the outcome is really sounding incredible and we’re super excited for everyone to hear it.”

ABOUT A SKYLIT DRIVE:
Great vision, that’s what it takes to refuse to rest on previous success and instead focus on what you need to become in the future, which is exactly what Lodi, California’s A Skylit Drive continues to achieve with every album. Vocalist Michael “Jag” Jagmin, guitarist Nick Miller, bassist/screamer Brian White, drummer Cory La Quay and keyboardist Kyle Simmons, officially exploded onto the scene in 2007 with their EP She Watched the Sky. They followed that release up with three full-length albums titled Wires and the Concept of Breathing, Adelphia and Identity on Fire, which all charted on the Billboard Top 200, and their live DVD Let Go of the Wires.

A Skylit Drive has toured extensively with similar artists like Blessthefall, Sleeping with Sirens, Pierce the Veil, and Of Mice & Men; as well as contributing songs to the well known compilations Punk Goes Classic Rock and Punk Goes Pop Vol 4. A Skylit Drive’s musical resume would be enough of a career for most bands, but they have no intentions of slowing down. In fact, the band believes they are just hitting their stride. They released their new album Rise to critical acclaim and assured their fans that this was just a taste of things to come. It joins the essential characteristics of A Skylit Drive’s signature sound heard on Wires and the Concept of Breathing while showcasing a wide spectrum of tones, textures and song structure.

Everyone Dies In Utah Premiere Cover of Katy Perry’s “Unconditionally” on HM Magazine

(Temple, TX) – Texas hardcore band Everyone Dies In Utah have a special Valentine’s day treat for all the sappy romantics out there. They have recorded a cover of Katy Perry‘s recent hit “Unconditionally” and even filmed a special video for it. In addition to footage of the band in the studio, they used shots of their fans lip syncing the song to create a heartwarmingly witty montage. The video is currently streaming exclusively at HM Magazine.

“Getting the fans involved was really cool,” says vocalist Danny Martinez. “We felt good being able to give something back after they’ve given us so much.”

“Our fans and friends made this video and we’re excited to share our love for them. Happy Valentine’s Day!” adds synth player Trey Golden.

Golden also takes on the role of clean vocalist for this tune, adding another dynamic to their take on the pop hit. This isn’t the first time Everyone Dies In Utah dabbled with a Katy Perry song, though. In 2011, they released their cover of “E.T” which has since garnered over 461,000 views.

To commemorate the release, Everyone Dies In Utah is giving the song a way for free for a limited time when you purchase something from Tragic Hero’s Unconditionally Web Store.

About Everyone Dies In Utah:

Teetering between breakneck brutality and elegant, entrancing melody, the Temple, TX quintet Everyone Dies In Utah, formed in 2008, consisting of Danny Martinez  (Vocals, Keys, Synth), Keaton Smith (guitar), Trey Golden (Keys, Synth), Brandon Stoltz (guitar), Nolan Bailey (Bass), and Ricky Williams (drums). The name of the band began as a joke, but stuck with them as time went on. It derives from the fact that the death rate in Utah was at one time higher than any other state.

So far, Everyone Dies In Utah has continually connected on a deep level with its passionate fan base. Since hitting the scene, they’ve attracted a rabid audience over the course of their self-released EP, I Hope You Realize This Means War in 2009 and the two full-length albums Seeing Clearly and +//- (Polarities). They’ve also toured tirelessly with bands such as Affiance, Sirens & Sailors, Bleach Blonde, The Overseer and more. The band knows that it is very important to be accessible to their fans and do not plan on getting off the road any time soon.

In order to bring their singular vision to life on the new full-length album Neutral Ground, Everyone Dies In Utah enlisted platinum producer Jim Wirt (Incubus, A Skylit Drive, Letter Kills) to steer the wheel. Wirt pushed the band to levels that they themselves didn’t even know they were capable of. Together, the band and Wirt created an album with an impressive balance of dreadful somber lows and blazing, kick you in the face highs. Lyrically, the album stands as their best work yet, touching on many relatable issues.

“I wanted to hit stronger messages on this album instead of doing a whole concept behind it,” says vocalist Danny Martinez. ” I decided to write full songs that would hit certain people at home. Like one song is about being judged and coming together to be bigger than the people that try to push you around. There’s a song that’s about wanting to become better than you are and how you are going to have to go out and do something about it to make it happen. Then, there’s a couple I wrote about heartbreak, as well.”

Neutral Ground is available via Tragic Hero Records.
