Cory and Joey of ASD Return to Tragic Hero Records

Former band mates reunite with new project Avant Garde
Cory LaQuay and Joey Wilson had a history of playing music together when they were in A Skylit Drive. Both have since left the band and are now back together making music in their new project Avant Garde. A Skylit Drive has a long history with Tragic Hero Records so it was a natural fit that Cory and Joey would sign to THR for Avant Garde.
“I am happy to announce that Avant Garde is signed with Tragic Hero Records. Joey and I have been with Tragic Hero for the last 8 years, and have known Tommy and the crew for a long time. Great people, great friends, and we are happy to be back on the team!” explains Cory.
Avant Garde has been quiet with details about the new project; however, next week all will be revealed.
On July 7th, the band will be giving fans:
EXCLUSIVE probing first interview with Alternative Press that will include Joey and Cory’s personal take on their days with A Skylit Drive
-First listen to the lead-off single
– “Fire Walk With Me” album release date
– Pre-orders of “Fire Walk With Me”
The future is bright for this band and Joey couldn’t be more excited about what’s next to come. “It’s such an amazing thing for us ‘Avant Garde’ to be signing to Tragic Hero Records, and to have a friend like Tommy LaCombe (Label President). It’s rare to have a group of people who really believe in you and can give you the chance (again) to do what we are doing. I am truly grateful for this and excited for the future.”
LaCombe added, “for the majority of my company’s entire existence, I’ve worked with these guys in one capacity or another and it makes me proud that they want to be here. I’m very excited about the new project and I know that fans are going to love it.”
About Avant Garde
Cory LaQuay and Joey Wilson got their whirlwind start in music in the post hardcore band, A Skylit Drive. Both LaQuay and Wilson were original members and there since the beginning with the band’s first release, an the EP titled “She Watched The Sky” (2007). Together they went on to record 3 full lengths with the band, “Wires and The Concept of Breathing” (2008), “Adelphia” (2009) and “Identity on Fire” (2011).
2012 brought the departure of Wilson after the band finished up their run on the All Stars Tour. As they prepared for their show in the Philippines, Wilson decided it was time to move on and get his personal life together.
LaQuay continued on with the band as the drummer and was involved in the 2013 release “Rise”.  After being the drummer for ASD for 7 years, he decided that the band wasn’t a project he wanted to be a part of anymore and announced he would leave the band.
Staying friends over the years and both sharing a passion for music, Wilson and LaQuay decided it was time to get together and start a new project and that became Avant Garde. In addition to writing the songs together, LaQuay is singing and Wilson is playing guitar.
The duo’s debut album, “Fire Walk With Me” will be released in August 2016 and will be unlike anything fans have heard in the past.

Invent, Animate Gives Fans A Glimpse Of What’s To Come

Band releases second single off sophomore album
It’s been two years since Texas metalcore band Invent, Animate released their debut album, “Everchanger”. The band is two weeks away from their highly anticipated sophomore release “Stillworld” and are ready to give fans a sneak peek of what’s in store for the album with the premiere of the second single ‘White Wolf’. Vocalist Ben English explains, “White Wolf is in a class of it’s own compared to the rest of the album, in the best way possible. To put it simply, it has the least amount of chill, and the most amount of chaos of any song on the record, and that’s something that made us so excited to release it. I think it’s the perfect second installment of ‘Stillworld’ and we are still barely scratching the surface of what ‘Stillworld’ holds.”
“Stillworld” will be out July 8th. The band will celebrate with a release show at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis on that same day and then kick off a tour with The Plot In You, ERRA and Sylar on July 9th.
The album is available digitally for pre order at:
Physical copies along with exclusive new merch are available at:
About Invent, Animate:
Creating an idea and bringing it to life is what inspired the progressive metalcore band Invent, Animate to pursue their passion for spreading positive messages through their music. The group was formed on the cloudy Christmas Eve of 2011 in a small town east of Houston called Port Neches, Texas. Ben English (vocals), Keaton Goldwire (guitar), Caleb Sherraden (bass), and Trey Celaya (drums) came together through their mutual love of bands like Deftones, Underoath, and Norma Jean. They are heavily influenced by what these bands have to say and the way they carry themselves as musicians.
Invent, Animate is a highly energetic band that puts an unsullied look on the metalcore market. Their work is multi-dimensional and shows their ability to be very dynamic. Never fearful to be chaotic and crazy one minute, but then decelerate and bring a softer, more beautiful aspect the next. The band has shared the stage with Oh, Sleeper, Of Mice & Men, Architects, Texas In July, ERRA and many more. They have also played the South By So What?! Festival.
Invent, Animate signed with Tragic Hero Records and released their debut full-length “Everchanger” in 2014. “It’s still so surreal to me,” says English. “Growing up, some of my favorite bands were a part of Tragic Hero, and I’m super excited to be a part of the family.”
The first single, ‘Celestial Floods’ off the band’s highly anticipated sophomore album “Stillworld” (July 8) shows the world what is next for Invent, Animate. English explains, “when we were all deciding what we wanted the world to hear first from “Stillworld”, it was an incredibly difficult process, but after much thought and consideration we were all happy with our choice in ‘Celestial Floods’. We think it really shows off some of the wild dynamics the album has in store, and really starts to dig into the emotion that’s portrayed throughout the record. Thrilled to have this one out, but it’s absolutely just the beginning of a whole new chapter.”
“Stillworld” will be out July 8th and Invent, Animate hits the road on the Happiness in Self Destruction tour with The Plot In You, ERRA and Sylar in support of the record.

Wearing Thin Premieres Video For “Company”

Features compilation of live shots from latest tour
Wearing Thin recently teamed up with their friends and label mates, Keyes, to put out a split 7″. They hit the road together in support of the record and while on tour, Dominic Trujillo captured live footage to create the video for “Company” which captures the emotion the band puts into their music and live performances.
Vocalist Tylor Blackburn talks about the significance of the song, “Company is a special song for us. It was the first song we wrote as a band where we stepped out of our comfort zone, and experimented with different sounds. To have it on our Split with Keyes, and have the video be from our recent tour with them, makes it even more meaningful.”
You can watch the video here and the Wearing Thin/Keyes split 7″ over at Merchbucket.
About Wearing Thin:

Taking cues from multiple different influences, Wearing Thin has figured out the perfect combination to their own sound. Tylor Blackburn (Vocals), Jace Garner, (Drums) Jeffery Mudgett, (Guitar) Maclaine Lewis, (Guitar) and Nico Lee (Bass) are ready to take the band to a whole new level after signing with Tragic Hero Records in 2015.
The band had their start in Salt Lake City, Utah after Blackburn mentioned needing a drummer on social media for a new project and that’s where Garner came into the picture. Childhood friend Lewis was recruited to play guitar and another musician in the local scene, Lee, was brought in on bass. Mudgett rounds out the sound on guitar.
Wearing Thin is no stranger to the recording studio. They recorded their EP, “Fake Amends” which was produced by Andy Patterson and mixed/mastered by Randy Cordner. They’ve also worked with the duo on their 7” split with Keyes. The band then went back into the studio to re-record the EP to show the band’s significant growth as a band.
“Fake Amends” was the band’s label debut and was released in December 2015. The band has toured previously as a three piece but is ready to hit the road with their current line-up and changed sound.

SET TO STUN Releases First Music Video

*Disclaimer- This video does contain blood/violence
SET TO STUN is a band known for their musical talent, crazy antics and a ‘I don’t give a f*ck’ attitude. All three of these things are highlighted in their first ever music video for “Dreamcatchers // Bodysnatchers”, which is a track off their latest release ‘SET TO SET and the Desperado Undead’. Ever since they broke onto the scene, their ravenous fan base has been waiting for a video. The band stayed true to themselves and delivered exactly what the fans wanted.
In a combination of performance shots and an intense story-line, this a video you won’t be able to take your eyes off. Disclaimer- this video does contain blood and violence, viewer discretion is advised.
SET TO STUN kicks off their national tour with The Animal In Me today in Anaheim, CA and wraps up on 7/7 in Seattle, WA.
‘SET TO STUN and the Desperado Undead’ can be purchased here.

Words alone cannot describe the band SET TO STUN. Each person who listens to the Southern California trio will have their own extreme experience and be left gasping for air. One minute you’ll be thrashing around within the violence of it, and the next minute you’ll be serenaded into a trance-like state and inspired to take on the world. Listening to a SET TO STUN album is more of a journey than just a bunch of songs thrown together on the same CD.  The music has a dangerous quality and you’ll get lost in the chaos of what’s happening, while you try to find your way back to safety.
Taylor Wong (bass/vocals), and Marcus Molina (drums) hinges on the intense lyrics that are relate-able to many different situations. Whether you’re going through a break-up, dealing with a drug addiction, being shipped off to war, or just trying to pursue your dreams, there is a little something here for everyone. More inspired by science-fiction and horror movies than the post-hardcore bands that they have been compared to, they describe themselves as the “Quentin Taratino of rock-n-roll.”
SET TO STUN has appeared on major festivals like South By So What?! and Vans Warped Tour. After performing with the likes of Motionless In White and Asking Alexandria, they gained thousands of views on their YouTube videos and caught the attention of Tragic Hero Records who signed them in 2014. “We are really excited to have the band on our roster,” says Tragic Hero CEO Tommy LaCombe. “They are truly a cinematic experience without limitations.” The band went into the studio to work on their upcoming album which was mastered/mixed by Joey Sturgis, “SET TO STUN and The Desperado Undead” was released on November 27th
